EL "NUEVO EJÉRCITO" DEL PEP EN LAS ESCUELAS DEL ATLÁNTICO

THE "NEW ARMY" OF THE PEP IN THE SCHOOLS IN THE ATLANTICO DEPARTMENT.

El Programa de Educación para la Paz (PEP) forma parte de los proyectos trasversales de la Unidad de Gestión Educativa de la Secretaría de Educación Departamental, con las siguientes actividades, durante este trimestre:

• “El nuevo ejército del PEP”, que consistió en la capacitación de 60 nuevos profesores de bachillerato y primaria que desean ser facilitadores del programa. Hasta el momento, ya han participado 110 profesores. El programa de capacitación se inició en junio y concluyó en octubre. La gobernación hizo la convocatoria y los participantes se inscribieron por voluntad propia.

• El PEP para líderes y representantes del Consejo de Padres de las escuelas. En promedio, han participado 77 en 3 talleres realizados.

• El PEP para 120 líderes estudiantiles que fueron nombrados como personeros por votación en sus colegios. La gobernación ofreció estos talleres semanales de manera rotativa, siendo facilitados por los profesores con el apoyo técnico del Equipo PEP.

También espera llevar el programa a la población más vulnerable de las zonas rurales, con apoyo de voluntarios, tanto de esa entidad como de la TPRF.

The Peace Education Program (PEP) is part of the complementary projects of the Educational Management Unit of the Departmental Education Secretariat, with the following activities, during this quarter:

• “The new PEP army”, that consisted in training 60 new high school and elementary teachers who are interested in becoming facilitators of the program. So far, 110 teachers have already participated. The training program started in June and ended in October. The government made a call and the participants signed up at their own free will.

• PEP for leaders and representatives of the Parent Council of the schools. On average, 77 have participated in 3 workshops.

• PEP for 120 student leaders who were appointed by vote as representatives in their schools.

The government offered these weekly workshops on a rotating basis, facilitated by  teachers with the technical support of the PEP Team.

With the support of volunteers both from the entities and from TPRF,  we hope to bring the program to the most vulnerable population in remote rural areas.
