IN BARRANQUILLA, THERE IS AN OASIS THAT BLOOMS ...

Aledaño a la autopista que conduce al aeropuerto de la ciudad, se encuentra ubicado un proyecto hermoso bajo el nombre de Centro de Reeducación “El Oasis”. Auspiciado por la Fundación Hogares Claret, este centro acoge adolescentes infractores de la Ley.

Next to the highway that leads to the city airport, a beautiful project is located with the name of “El Oasis” Reeducation Center. Sponsored by the Claret Homes Foundation, this center welcomes teenagers who break the Law.

Cumplen ellos allí un proceso terapéutico pedagógico, a través de una atención integral con apoyo de familiares y orientado a la inserción social y familiar. Se ofrece una atención integral que incluye servicios médicos, odontológicos, enfermería y sicología.

They carry out a therapeutic pedagogical process there, through comprehensive care with family support and oriented towards social and family insertion. Comprehensive care is offered that includes medical, dental, nursing and psychology services.

Los diferentes módulos cumplen un horario intenso de actividades educativas como también productivas: panadería, cultivo de huerta, criadero de peces, galpón y emisora.

The different modules fulfill an intense schedule of educational as well as productive activities: bakery, vegetables garden, fish farm, poultry shed and radio station.

Desafortunadamente, a través de charlas con el personal directivo, nos enteramos que el porcentaje de éxito de inserción es alarmantemente bajo, creando frustraciones tanto a nivel administrativo como personal. Algunos de los jóvenes salen después de cumplir el término de la condena y retoman sus actividades delictivas, con consecuencias más graves: algunos fallecen y otros pasan al sistema carcelario nacional, panorama triste y desesperanzador.

Unfortunately, through talks with the management staff, we learned that the insertion success rate is alarmingly low, creating frustrations both administratively and personally. Some of the young people leave after completing the term of the sentence and resume their criminal activities, with more serious consequences: some die and others go to the national prison system, a sad and hopeless outlook.

En este contexto, voluntarios del PEP han estado llevando el mensaje de paz y valores de Prem Rawat, con la certeza que los valores que se presentan, lleguen a los corazones de los jóvenes internos en la Institución y que estos cursos se reciban con mente abierta, esperanzadora y con deseos de restablecer la dignidad en sus vidas .

In this context, PEP volunteers have been carrying Prem Rawat’s message of peace and values, with the certainty that the values ​​that are presented, reach the hearts of the young inmates in the Institution and for these courses to be received with an open mind , hopeful and eager to restore dignity in their lives.

La acogida al mensaje de Prem Rawat ha ido creciendo paulatinamente hasta el punto que, la mayoría de los jóvenes han notado en ellos mismos un cambio positivo hacia la apreciación de la vida y las consecuencias de las elecciones que hacen.

The reception of Prem Rawat's message has been growing gradually to the point that, most of the young people have noticed in themselves a positive change towards the appreciation of life and the consequences of the choices they make.

En las últimas visitas, han manifestado su entusiasmo y deseo de conocer a Prem en persona, e incluso la Institución ha extendido una invitación directamente a Prem, para que los visite en sus instalaciones.

In the last visits, they have expressed their enthusiasm and desire to meet Prem in person, and even the Institution has extended an invitation directly to Prem, so he may visit them at its facilities.

Una vez por semana, un grupo reducido de voluntarios, se desplaza por el caluroso desierto barranquillero para llegar a este Oasis y llenar sus corazones con la alegría de llevar el mensaje de Prem Rawat a lugares como este establecimiento, donde desde ya se ven florecer corazones de jóvenes necesitados de una esperanza.

Once a week, a small group of volunteers, travels through the hot desert of Barranquilla to reach this Oasis and fill their hearts with the joy of taking Prem Rawat's message to places such as this establishment, where hearts of young people in need of hope are already blooming.
